More about Stonewall National Monument and National Park Foundation

The Stonewall Uprising that took place in New York City’s Historic Greenwich Village on June 28, 1969 helped shape the modern lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer civil rights movement. To commemorate the events that transpired, Stonewall National Monument became the 412th unit of the National Park System and the first LGBTQ national monument.

As the official nonprofit partner of the National Park Service, the National Park Foundation generates private support and builds strategic partnerships to protect and enhance America’s national parks for present and future generations. On the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising, your gift will provide critical funds for education programs, community engagement, and preservation at Stonewall National Monument.
